Vigue Interiors: FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions...

Do you charge for your first meeting?
No, the first meeting is complimentary and is an opportunity for both parties to meet and evaluate the scope of the work, review the Designer’s portfolio, discuss likes and dislikes, completing the initial design brief, measuring and taking photos of the space for referencing when drawing plans and creating layout.  This meeting usually takes around 1 ½ - 2 hrs.

How do you charge for your services?
I have an hourly design fee and a mark-up on any product that can be purchased through the Designer only, fees are negotiable depending on individual circumstances, each client and project is also costed on its budget value.

Why do you have an hourly fee and a mark-up on the product?
The design fee is for design concepts i.e. mood boards, sample boards, plan drawings etc, sourcing products, and advice on any purchases. When a product is ordered through the Designer, there is a great deal of time spent on producing purchase orders, ordering cuttings of fabrics, and wall-coverings from current stock for approval. Additionally, time is spent on coordinating deliveries and generally ensuring that the whole process runs smoothly until the item is delivered to the client. The mark-up covers this entire process and assures the clients’ peace of mind.

Do I have to use a Designer’s services for everything, or just as needed?
Every Designer works differently. I am happy to work with you as a consultant and you can either use us for the entire process, or simply for consulting and advice, allowing you to make your own purchases, you may stop my service at any time during the process at the fee agreed at the outset.

Do you work with any particular style(s)?
I work with many different styles and prefer to help each client create their own signature style. Although styles vary, the common thread through all our projects is a modern, clean look, any period styles will be taken on but contracted to our design partners who specialise in these areas if you wish to proceed.

Why do I need an Interior Designer if I already have an Architect?
Architects and Interior Designers work very differently. Most Architects work with structure and building design and prefer not to work with details of interiors, such as kitchen and bath design, custom cabinetry and built-ins, colour schemes, flooring specifications, and wall and window treatments. Designers can create a master plan for the interior of your entire home or office, which can be implemented in stages, as your budget allows. The ideal design team consists of both an Architect and an Interior Designer in order to cover all aspects of your internal and external spaces.
